"Business demands and technology challenges sometimes create the need for migration of applications or databases from one environment to another, either to improve operational efficiency or to manage risk. "

An organisation may decide to reduce risks by moving away from an environment that has scarcity of skilled personnel and vendor support issues. The advantage of migration as opposed to, say, re-engineering is that it leverages the current business model and the features of the application and can be done in a cost-effective manner.

Second Foundation provides migration services that cater to varied platforms. We bring in the tools and expertise for making a smooth transition.

Our migration experience includes:

-> Migration of application programs within the same platform - from one dialect of the programming language to another and from one language to another.
-> Migration of database and data servers.
-> Migration of application programs and data across platforms, including migration from legacy platforms to newer "open" platforms

Second Foundation has a dedicated Tools Group that specialises in developing and customising tools according to the migration requirements. We have a large repository of tools, including parser-based tools that have been proven in large migration projects.

Second Foundation has experience in the following operating systems:
    UNIX
-> HP-UX, Solaris, Unixware, Linux, NetBSD, etc.
